Youth Entrepreneurship Program...

With support from the California State Chancellor's Office and joint efforts with the Greater Sacramento Small Business Development Center , Sacramento CITD through the Youth Entrepreneurship Program is able to identify and encourage youth and young adults to consider entrepreneurship as a viable career choice while they are young.

This program allows us to target the next generation of our business clients. Outreach to youth and young adults at an age where they are flexible and more open to new ideas is advantageous because their business dreams are usually not constrained by mortgages, families, and debt. As opposed to waiting several years for new curriculum to be developed and approved, the entrepreneurship program allows students the opportunity to learn from professionals who are dealing with business owners every day. The window for making career choices is getting tighter and tighter, therefore capturing them at the beginning of their careers or their business concepts is important and allows us to gear them in the right path initially.

The Chancellors Office recognizes students should have knowledge about business without compromising the existing educational system. The majority of high schools throughout California, and nationwide, prepare students for higher education, however lack career counseling, making this program very useful.
