Seminars & Workshops ...

The Sacramento Regional CITD offers up to 30 seminars per year on topics related to global commerce. The seminars and workshops train business personnel in importing/exporting basics, conducting market research, developing foreign agents and distributors, trade financing, freight forwarding, legal issues, trade regulations and documentary requirements.

Doing Business in Mexico- An International Trade Survival Seminar

Topics of discussion include the legal system, fiscal matters, accounting controls, and how import/export strategies work in Mexico. You will also learn about the range of suppliers, the benefits to your company, and the best way of conducting business with Mexico. On hand to address your questions will be representatives from the offices of the Secretariat of Economic Development, the Industrial Development Commission of Mexicali, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Genesis de Baja California, and Industrial Group IAMSA. You will also hear from Mexican Customs Brokers, U.S. Customs Brokers, Mexican Corporate Attorneys, and Mexican Public Accountants.

Advanced Management of an Import/Export Business  (printable flyer)

Find the answers to complicated international trade issues such as market entry methods, agents and distributors, pricing, financing and getting paid, licensing, protecting intellectual property, ATA Carnets, and more. Guest speakers who are experts in specific areas of international trade such as transportation, finance, logistics, legal and import/export will share their experience and answer questions.

Prerequisite: Start Your Own Import/Export Business seminar and/or previous import/export experience.

2009 Information & Communication Technology Convention - CeBIT 2009

For the first time ever, a state has been asked to partner in the world's largest information and communication technology conference.  The State of California is actively seeking companies that are interested in participating in the world’s largest ICT convention. In past years CeBIT has had designated Partner Countries, but for the first time, a US state has been recognized with this status and Governor Schwarzenegger has accepted the invitation to have California step into the spotlight. This program -- which will consist of forums and presentations, exhibit displays, sponsorship opportunities, and more -- will place California and its participating companies on a global stage as never before.

International Trade Finance: Methods of Payment  (printable flyer)

This seminar will cover the various methods of payment for export and import transactions, the different benefits and the associated risks. Participants will learn about letters of credit and the respective differences between revocable, irrevocable, confirmed and special types of credits like transferable letters of credit; commercial terms; insuring against possible risks; export financing; and addressing the foreign currency and exchange risks. Also an overview of SBA's Export Working Capital Program will be provided.
