Speaker: Mr. Clement C. M. Leung, JP, Hong Kong Commissioner, USA Mr. Leung will assume the post of Hong Kong Commissioner for Economic and Trade Affairs, USA the most senior representative of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in North America, in February. The Commissioner directs the Hong Kong Government’s efforts in promoting US-Hong Kong economic and trade ties, and constituency-building activities in the US.Prior to his appointment, Mr. Leung was Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene from 2010 to 2014, responsible for food safety and the delivery of a wide range of municipal and public hygiene services. From 2007 to 2010, he served as Deputy Secretary of the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau, and was in charge of revenue and taxation policies, and investment in corporations. While serving in the Trade and Industry Department as Deputy Director-General from 2003 to 2007, Mr. Leung’s portfolio covered bilateral trade relations with the United States and the Mainland of China. Mr. Leung is a graduate of the Chinese.
Topic: “Hong Kong – Your Access to China and Asia” China is the world’s second largest economy and Asia houses half of the world’s population. The region is attractive both as a market and a source of investment. How does one gain access to the lucrative business opportunities blooming across the Pacific? Hong Kong has long been Asia’s international financial, trade and logistics hub. More recently, Hong Kong has also become the launching pad of Chinese enterprises venturing onto the global stage. The Hong Kong Commissioner for Economic and Trade Affairs to the United States will share his insights into the fast changing economic landscape of Hong Kong, China and the Asian region, and the exceptionable advantages that Hong Kong offers to California businesses looking to establish a foothold in Asia.
